Christmas Is Coming

Last weekend both Mommy and Daddy's churches celebrated Hanging of the Greens, a special service involving the Advent decorations in the sanctuary. At Belleview, the sanctuary was decorated ahead of time and the youth group led the entire service on Sunday morning, doing the call to worship, prayers, Scripture readings, and offering as well as the blessings/explanations of the decorations. Here's the sanctuary before worship as the youth were practicing - note the wrought iron Advent wreath which is actually suspended from the ceiling.

After worship was over we had a potluck and headed up to meet Daddy at Druid Hills. Druid Hills had celebrated Hanging of the Greens by actually decorating the sanctuary during worship, interspersed with some carols as well as the explanations of the decorations. And outside the fellowship hall they have this great Nativity setup in the yard. Our boys are fascinated by it and Wesley especially loves the baby Jesus.

And then this morning we celebrated the season also at Druid Hills at their Advent Breakfast. When we arrived we discovered that someone had purchased matching Lightning McQueen cups for the boys along with some M&M treats and had them at our table - very sweet. We enjoyed a very yummy breakfast buffet - including several different versions of breakfast casserole! Then Daddy was the guest speaker and Mommy sang a solo. It was a really nice time to fellowship with everyone all together as a family.
