First Day of Junior Year

Davis was the first one of the kids back to school this year. He started this morning at Riverview High in Sarasota. He took his car and drove himself to school!

Davis is in their IB Engineering program. His schedule for this year is pretty impressive in terms of academics: IB Language and Literature, Honors Physics, Computer Integrated Management, IB Personal and Professional Skills, AP Precalculus, IB Global Politics 2, and AP US History.

Renewal Leave - Part Twelve - Family Reunion

Russ and Karen came down from Georgia to spend time on Treasure Island for the week. They invited us up to visit with them. While we were there, their daughter Sydney came over and also another cousin Faith and her son Will. So good to spend time with everyone.

Renewal Leave - Part Five - Road Trip to Atlanta

After I was home for a few days, Davis and I roadtripped up to Atlanta for his very first college visit - Georgia Tech. We drove up on a Sunday night and had his general tour first thing on Monday morning.

Then we came back to the auditorium and listened to the College of Engineering session.

He was super impressed and really liked what he saw. We visited the gift shop and he got this shirt.

As we were driving back to the hotel we spotted several of these delivery robots driving themselves around.

We parked back at the hotel and then went to play tourist. Davis had picked out a few things he wanted to visit. Georgia Aquarium across the street was first up.

This ray enjoyed entertaining folks by swimming up the glass and floating backwards, over and over.

We spent a lot of time in the big viewing room watching the giant rays and other fish along with the giant whale shark.

Then we walked across the courtyard to the Coke Museum, after stopping by the FIFA cup for a picture.

We got to meet the Polar Bear for a picture!!!

In the taste test room, Davis chugged Beverly (from Italy). He was not a fan!

Then we walked alongside Centennial Park - we could not go in because they were dismantling the FIFA fan experience. We saw the Eye on the way to eat dinner at a vegan Asian restuarant before calling it a day. We drove home the next morning.
