Saturday Wesley had the opportunity to compete in the inaugural Under Armour Nationals held at IMG Academy. There were 17 competitors in the boys high jump, divided into two flights. He almost cleared 1.92m but not quite. He finished 4th in his flight and 11th overall. Super proud of all of his accomplishments this season.
Friday was the long awaited day - Wesley's high school graduation from IMG Academy. The ceremony was held at the Bradenton Area Convention Center in Palmetto.
All the families received water, a light up glow stick along with their program as they came in.
And the Ascender mascot was on hand dancing with folks as we waited for it all to start.
They had a jazz group lead the line coming in.
Followed by circus performers from Circus Arts Conservatory in Sarasota.
The graduating class had kids from 40 countries. So they lined the stage with the flags and had each kid say Hello in their own language.
And here is our graduate!!!!
There were stage fireworks at the end as the graduates threw their caps in the air.
Then we had some fun outside getting pictures. This is Wesley with his jumps coach, Coach Iryna.
The thing about a Friday graduation meant that Davis missed it - he had three finals at school
Such a fun and special day of celebration for our graduate. We are SO proud of Wesley's accomplishments on and off the field. He graduated with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society.
After lunch with the family, Wesley headed off to Fruitland Park to see Lydia graduate from the Villages Charter School. So proud of her as well!
The photographer at IMG sent through some cool pictures from an earlier season track meet to Wesley this weekend. Love these so much!
And at the recent track and field banquet, Wesley's name was on the screen as one of the seniors committed to continue with sports in college (bottom left of the screen).
And then he was able to go up to the microphone in front of his senior banner and announce where he is going to attend college.
