A First Apartment

For the last couple of months we have been storing some extra furniture at the house which was a gift from Tom and Ellen Davis for Parker's school apartment this year.

And Grandmommy had been storing a lot of Parker's other things from the dorm in the apartment at her house.

We finally gathered everything up and Parker and I moved it back to Lakeland on Sunday. Bella tried to sneak into the car to go with Parker too!

Parker is in a school apartment just west of the main campus, Lake Hollingsworth Apartments. He's with two of his friends Jake and Eddie (they were in a suite in Jenkins last year). Eddie and Parker are sharing one room with a bathroom and Jake has a single with his own bathroom. Then they have a large living room/dining room combination, a kitchen and a small back porch. They were lucky and are right next to the laundry building in the complex.

He's all set up and ready to go for the year. His roommates are great and they already made up a dinner plan and went shopping to cook food at night.

Junior Year - FSC

We weren't able to move Parker back to the dorm this year because his move in time was a Sunday morning. But he managed to get a great suite with some friends. I got to see it while I was in town for Cabinet meetings this week. They have a living room with three bedrooms and a private suite bathroom. His roomate Noah is from St. Pete and they are getting along well. And the bedroom is bigger than last year's too which is nice.

Here's our Moc all ready to go for year 3!

College Round Two

This is the sad face of a dog whose boy is headed back to college.
She did not like all the packing on Sunday night.

Monday Daryl and I drove Parker up to Lakeland. This year he is in Jenkins Hall, the one building in Greek Village that has non-fraternity boys housed there.

This year Parker is in a double sharing a floor bathroom. It's still a good size space with lots of storage.

The view from Parker's desk through the window.

After we got most everything set up, we headed out to lunch and met the Hills downtown at Harry's. They're only 20 minutes away from Parker's school and he sometimes goes to their church on Sunday mornings.

Last pictures of the day.. he's ready for sophomore year to start!

And when we got home, this was in the mail. Dean's list for the Spring semester!

Heading off to School

We spent a lot of time last week shopping and packing and getting Parker ready for college.  Everyone helped including the fur babies. And Parker picked his last dinner out at home to be at Daiquiri Deck on the Key which was fun.

Parker's checkin time on Saturday at Florida Southern was 2pm. We pulled up in a loop, and some upperclassmen unloaded our car into a cart pulled by a golf cart. Daryl and Parker headed off in the golf cart to the dorm while I parked the car and walked over to Allan Spivey Hall. It took us about 90 minutes to get Parker all set up and organized and wow does he have a lovely spacious corner room with tons of natural light!

Daryl left just after this picture to go get the younger boys from Seffner and head home. I got to stay for the parent meeting with the FSC president. Afterwards, I headed over to the Hills house in Auburndale. Amy and I went to Disney and got Dole Whip floats while shopping at the Springs.

Sunday morning I met Parker on campus for chapel which was great and then we went to lunch in the dining hall. Afterwards we went to convocation in Branscomb Auditiorium (where we usually have annual conference). All the freshmen students marched in and the faculty were on the stage. I sat with our friends the Standifers from Fruitland Park - they have two daughters here. And then we walked out onto the field behind Parker's dorm while they got their class photo taken on the lawn.

I finished up my Sunday with the Hills again in Auburndale. CJ made dinner and then I watched Disney movies and played board games with the kids (and the dog!) while he and Amy went on a Disney date.
