Heading to Camp

On Monday we took off very early for Ocala. Wesley needed to be fitted for another retainer. His younger brother was less than thrilled with our super early departure! (but he did look cute with his new haircut thanks to Baba).

After the orthodontist, we drove down to Leesburg and met up with friends at Ramshackles before taking the kids to camp for the week. We had 21 for lunch - Allens, Hills, Landstedts, Holdens and the Holdens' friends, the O'Barrios.

Camp checkin went smoothly and our favorite team member was on nametags for A-G so we got to see him and hug on him! Davis and his bestie Tim are bunkmates and in the building next door to where Parker is also a middle school boys counselor this week.

After checkin was done, Daryl, Amy and I headed to Disney World. Amy took us to the Cast Connection store as guests and then on to Epcot. It had been five weeks since our last Disney trip and I just need a pixie dust fix. We got some snacks, desserts, walked around and rode the boat ride. It made for a nice time and it was good to be able to hang out together.

Middle School Promotion

Wesley's 8th grade promotion ceremony was held today in the Carver Middle School gym. They divided the 8th graders up into two teams and he was in the first group that graduated at 11am. This made it a much more pleasant experience fitting into the gymnasium.

Processing in

Wesley was recognized for being a student athlete, receiving plaques and certificates for being part of the co-ed soccer team and the boys' basketball team.

Wesley ended up being recognized for academics with the FAME award (which he also got in 6th grade). This is for maintaining a 3.5 GPA over the entire year with no Cs.

Recognition for cords. The black cords he was wearing were for earning one high school credit in middle school and the grey cords were for National Junior Honor Society. This was nice and new for us - they did not do cords for Parker's middle school promotion ceremony. Wesley was surprised with these before the ceremony - they did not practice or tell the kids ahead of time.

Having his name called for promotion.

Processing out. It is done!

Pictures with our graduate. So proud! Thankful to have Grandmommy make the trip up today and be able to stay and enjoy lunch with everyone also.

We gave Wesley a choice of where to eat for lunch and he picked Cody's in The Villages. We did presents while we were waiting on lunch. Wesley got a big BBQ burger.

When we got home, we laid out all of his honors and awards!

Sixth Grade Awards Night

Thursday night was 6th Grade Awards night.

Davis was recognized for being on the Honor Roll for the 1st and 3rd nine weeks of the year. Super proud of Davis!

Wesley's name was in the program too although the 8th grade awards won't be handed out until 8th grade promotion on May 25: basketball, soccer and the FAME award (3.5 or higher GPA all year long).

End of a Soccer Season

Tuesday night's game was away at Tavares High School against Tavares Middle.
Carver won 3-0, with Wesley scoring the first goal of the game!

We went out for a celebratory dinner at Puddlejumpers on the shore of Lake Dora nearby. It's the first time we've brought the boys to the place Daryl and I often visit on date day. They enjoyed the view - even without any seaplanes taking off.

Thursday night was the last game and the last home game. They did not honor the 8th graders, but the Hills came with us to cheer Wesley on. Carver lost to Oak Park 2-1, with Wesley scoring the lone Carver goal late in the second half. Afterwards we all went out to dinner at Ramshackles to celebrate.

More Soccer Games

Tuesday, Carver played soccer against Eustis at home. Unfortunately it ended in a 3-1 loss.
Wesley did get a lot of playing time though.

Thursday's game was first delayed by lightning and then declared a rain-out.
