Exploring Kansas

Monday I worked from the hotel during the day - it's right across the parking lot from the church sanctuary.

In the afternoon I went out to explore the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Overland Park. So beautiful! I walked several trails and ended up walking a couple of miles.

And then I stopped by the Museum at Prairiefire - this is very close by the church and is a small natural history museum. The class panels on the front and back of the museum are simply amazing when lit by the sunlight.

And for dinner I tried a new to me place - Hawaiian Brothers Island Grill - it was just like eating a lunch plate special back in Honolulu AND I got a dole whip too!

Fur Friends

Besides the fur friends who live in our house we have some in the backyard. This beautiful doe and her baby (that the boys call Bambi!) visit us just about every evening to graze. The mom was injured a couple of months ago and limps along but she has done an excellent job still caring for her baby.

Gratitude for the Little Things

It's November. Time to be thankful. Appreciating the little things these days, like these pretty purple flowers in our yard that I noticed on the way back inside after a short neighborhood walk.

And Veterans' Day meant I got the opportunity to sleep in a bit and then head straight out for a nice bike ride in the cooler weather.
