Scouts In Training

I am a new assistant scoutmaster with Troop 50. So I had to attend IOLS training at Camp Flying Eagle in Bradenton this weekend (Friday-Saturday). The camp is pretty, especially its outdoor chapel area.

Forever Family Day

Saturday marked 10 years since Davis joined our family. Hard to believe it has been an entire decade since this little guy joined our family and made us a family of five!

Davis and Wesley spent most of the day in the car coming back from Boy Scout camp in north Georgia.
But when we picked them up about 5:30pm, we took them for some Sub Zero ice cream to celebrate.

And we got this text message from Joey with a Parker sighting. They found him in the Target in The Villages while he was on a break from camp. It was nice to have a picture for proof of life for our camp counselor (he's been gone for 2.5 weeks now.

Boys Update

Parker is on summer camp leadership team at Warren Willis and this week they got a visit from Bishop Berlin and his assistant Alex - Alex and I were on team together in 1997. Parker is enjoying his summer so far with the other counselors - campers show up today for the first time.

Wesley and Davis headed out early on Father's Day morning for Boy Scout Camp in Georgia - Camp Rainey Mountain. 4:30am leaving time was not popular with our kiddos.

Boy Scout Camp

Wesley and Davis spent last week at Camp Ho Non Wah on Wadmalow Island in South Carolina along the shore of the Bowhicket River. They were pretty homesick at first and we spoke to them on Monday night by phone. That seemed to help and they did awesome after that. Wesley earned 6 badges - including 3 required Eagle ones this week - kayaking, archery, fingerprinting, emergency preparedness, citizenship in the nation and another one. That goes a long way towards catching him up. Davis earned three. And he got recognized at the end of the week for pushing through his homesickness and being a real trooper. And they sang Happy Birthday to him on Friday night and some of the scouts and leaders got him presents from the camp store. They came home hungry, tired and stinky - but they had fun and we're glad to have them back.
