Vacation - Part Two - Movies and More

Super Bowl Sunday was pretty lowkey here. We were supposed to entertain the Raskovichs but they were unable to come up at the last minute (Miss Leslie's mom is sick). Parker woke up with a fever and so we ended up just hanging out around the house. This was the first year probably in about 8 years that we haven't had friends or family over for a Super Bowl party. But Mommy did go to Winn Dixie and get their super meal deal and so we had 2 kinds of pizza, boneless buffalo wings, little smokies, chips/dip, soda and ice cream while we watched the game.

Monday Parker was better and he and Wesley headed off to school while Mommy and Daddy went down to The Villages to see the movie "Book of Eli" and had lunch at Panera Bread. The movie was excellent; even though there is a lot of shoot-em-up stuff, there is a wonderful religious theme and the ending really makes you think! We did some shopping at Michael's and Wal-Mart to help Mommy organize her scrapbooking supplies and ended up dropping the Malibu off for brake repair because the back brakes were making this horrific grinding sound. Mommy went to boot camp and later we picked up a movie to see after the boys went to bed - we ended up seeing "Whip It," Drew Barrymore's film about women's roller derby.

Tuesday we stayed in Ocala and went to the Regal to see John Travolta's new movie, "From Paris With Love" and afterwards we tried out a new restaurant, Zaxby's - both of which were quite good. We got a call while at the movies from Wesley's preschool; he fell at school and tripped facefirst into a cabinet. Some blood and a nice big fat upper lip, but fortunately no damage to the teeth underneath the lip. You can see it here in this picture of him - he had found this shirt of Daddy's and was wandering around the house in it.

Wednesday we headed back down to The Villages again and went to see "Extraordinary Measures" with Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford about a dad who teams up with a scientist to try and come up with a medicine for his sick kids - this is definitely one of the best movies we have seen lately. After picking up the kids we just hung out around the house and played the rest of the day away. When the boys went to bed, Mommy and Daddy watched another movie, "Ironman" on DVD.

Thursday was another movie day. This time we saw "Invictus" about Nelson Mandela and the South African rugby team. Very interesting but a little long and drawn out and afterwards we headed to Crispers for lunch. After picking up the boys we ran some errands. First stop was the library to turn in the boys' books and pick up some new ones. Parker definitely wasn't shy this go round - he picked out five books of his own! Wesley got two picture books about dinosaurs. And Mommy picked up "Mr. Popper's Penguins" to read to the boys one chapter a night. It was one of her favorite books as a kid and since the boys were so fascinated by the penguins at Sea World we thought they might really enjoy it. Then it was off to WalMart to get Wesley some new school shoes as he had created a toe hole in his hand-me-down Spidermans.

When we got home it was time for the boys to work on their Valentines for school. Both of them had parties on Friday....... Parker had to write out twenty addressed to "My Friend" plus one for his teacher and Wesley needed fifteen for his classmates and four for his teachers. Parker picked out Hot Wheels Valentines and Wesley picked out Disney movies.

Friday the boys were off to their parties and Mommy and Daddy headed out to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early since we both have to work on Sunday. We went to see the brand new movie Valentine's Day (which was great!!!!) and followed it up with a yummy breakfast for lunch at Cracker Barrel.
