Cub Scout Field Trip

Monday night Parker's entire Cub Scout Pack took a field trip out to the Sheriff Substation by the Ocala Airport. We were supposed to be there at 7pm but no one showed up to let us in. After about 15 minutes, we got a flyover by the Sheriff Department's helicopter.....and then it landed and we got to back to the hangar where it is stored. The pilots showed off the helicopters and spent time talking to the boys about the different parts of the helicopters, how they fly and what they do as part of their jobs for the Sheriff's Office. They did a Q&A session with the boys and were very patient in answering a wide range of questions.

Then we took a break to go outside and meet Britt and his handler - part of the K9 unit for the Sheriff's Department. After doing a little demo and answering a bunch of questions, the handler let all the boys come up and pet the dog.

Then it was back inside to line up for a chance to sit inside the helicopters. Every boy got their turn including the little tag-a-long brothers.

The boys all thought that this was pretty awesome and really enjoyed their field trip! Many thanks to the Sheriff's Department for taking time out to do this for the scouts.
