Ready To Run

Several months back Mommy was diagnosed as being insulin-resistant. This is a side effect of an underlying metabolic condition she has that she has known about for a while called PCOS. We first found out about that when we tried to get pregnant and ended up having to see a reproductive endochronologist for assistance back in 2003. So she read up on the Insulin Resistance Diet (which teaches you to eat carbs in proportion to protein) and started exercising again, this time running using the Couch to 5K app on her phone to train with.

This was Mommy at the beginning of July when she started (170 pounds)

The Couch to 5K program starts you off alternating walking and short bursts of running, gradually building up the running time. Right now Mommy is in week 8 of 9, and running for 28 minutes straight for about 2.7 miles at time. Which is good because she did this crazy thing of signing up for a 5k (3.1 miles) here at Silver Springs Park that she runs in 15 days. And a side benefit? - she's lost 14 pounds!
