Grandma's friend Sandy Naugle (my high school youth director) took her to Moffitt today for all her appointments. Things seem to be on track for next week's surgery. Mom did get some good news related to her radiation treatments. When she had breast cancer the first time in 1999, she had to go 5 days a week for something like 5 weeks for radiation. But because the spot in the right leg is not near any major organs, she can have just one massive dose of radiation in the leg and be done with that. She is trying to get on the schedule for this before her hip surgery. Then about 3-4 weeks after the hip surgery, she will need to start radiation for that spot. Because it is closer to major organs, it will need more than one treatment, but should still only take 3-4. She was much encouraged to hear that news today. She has another preop visit with her primary care doctor this week before surgery and another friend from her Bible study group Larry Stone (Daryl's old Boy Scout leader) will take her to that one. And we don't want to forget to say thank you to my Grandaddy for building Grandma a ramp on Sunday; she was able to get in and out of the house so much easier this time. It is such a relief to have wonderful caring folks from church who are doing so much to help out.
