The boys all had last Friday off from school and since it was our day off too we headed down to Orlando for some fun at Disney World. We finally got a chance to experience EPCOT's Food and Wine Festival for ourselves.
To make it easy, we got everyone in the family their own Disney gift card and let them decide what food items they wanted to try for themselves as we traveled around the World Showcase. Besides the regular existing countries, there were lots of additional booths set up with food from other countries like Australia, Patagonia, Ireland, Greece, Brazil and some neat other booths like Sustainable Chew, Cheese Studio and Farm Fresh. Every country had a few entree items to try, a dessert and some beverages as well. And so we walked and walked and ate and ate and had an absolutely wonderful time!
Sweet goat cheese panna cotta with guava gellé
Davis and I split a cheese trio
All of us tried the Beef Bourguignon in France - delicious!
A little entertainment in France
Germany - Davis and I had schinkennudeln (pasta with ham and cheese); Parker and Wesley had roast bratwurst in a pretzel roll; plus the grownups split a beer flight.
China - Daryl had Beijing Duck and the rest of us had potstickers. And then I had a Jasmine tea with Boba.
These guys all adored the loaded macaroni and cheese from Farm Fresh!
Greek salad in a cone.
And all of us wound up the day with Belgium waffles covered in chocolate and whipped cream!
We managed to check out a few other things too, like the cranberry bog that was set up and a few rides...Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, the Seas with Nemo and the Shark playground.
Our fun time in Orlando wasn't over yet. We spent the night at a hotel in Disney Springs and then got up on Saturday morning and had breakfast at the Kona Cafe in the Polynesian Resort. It was so nice to get away for a little break and enjoy some Disney time.
