After picking Parker up from school today, we spent time in Brandon with the McConnell side of Daddy's family as we celebrated the life of his great-aunt Mary Louise McConnell Boyette Strickland. Mary was the last surviving sibling of Daddy's maternal grandmother, Emma McConnell Davis. It's been many years since this branch of the family gathered together and after the memorial service we got a chance to spend time reminiscing and catching up with each other.
Then this evening, we went as a family to visit Grandpa at the John Knox Med Center in Tampa. He was finally stable enough to be moved earlier today after 9.5 days in the hospital. Now he will spend the next several weeks doing therapy to help him walk again after the bad break to his ankle. He seemed to be in good spirits and enjoyed the visit, especially seeing the boys again.
