The Thanksgiving Villain

So today was Parker's Thanksgiving play and lunch at school. His class put the play on in their room - and all 20 of them were dressed up. Most of them were either pilgrims or Indians. And then there was Parker dressed up as a king with a crown.

The kids sat in a semi-circle and all of them had at least one set of lines. Parker had the opening lines of the play, the ones we had practiced at home with him to memorize: "Do you see orange pumpkin pie? Do you smell yummy turkey? Do you know what that means? It's Thanksgiving!"
One by one the kids told the story of the first Thanksgiving and interspersed throughout the play were some of the cutest Thanksgiving songs! When Parker stepped forward again in the play, Mommy and Daddy were so surprised that he had another line. Parker as the King of England stood in front of two kneeling pilgrims as he said, "You have to pray my way or it's the highway!" We had no idea that Parker was the villain of the Thanksgiving play - but he played his part great!

Then at the very end of the play, each one of the kids got to say something that they were thankful for. Parker was thankful for his toys because he gets to play with them! Then we got to sit down with Parker at his table and see the neat Thanksgiving card that he had made. For lunch, we headed down to the cafeteria to pick up a special Thanksgiving lunch complete with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie! (for only $2.75 each - can't beat that!) We walked back to the classroom to sit down and eat with all the other parents and kids from the class! A very nice morning. Mommy and Daddy are so glad to be blessed with churches that allow them flexible schedules to be able to attend all of these school functions.
