North Carolina Family Reunion - Saturday

Last Friday night we took off out of town for North Carolina. We caravaned with Grandmommy and Grandaddy as well as Uncle Daniel's crew for a family reunion and vacation all rolled into one. We drove from about 6:45pm until about 11:15pm when we stopped in Ridgeland, South Carolina for the night. This was our first multi-state road trip with the boys and they did much better than we could have hoped in the car.

Saturday morning we got up and grabbed breakfast at the hotel and hit the road by 8:30am. By 11:30am we were rolling into Belmont, North Carolina where Daryl's great-uncle Bill lives. We grabbed lunch at McDonald's and let the kids run off some energy in the play place before heading out to Bill's lake house.

Bill's front yard. LOVE the big garden out here!

We spent the entire afternoon playing in and on the water. The kids jumped off of everything and eventually we started tubing behind the Seadoo. Daniel drove his family around and Daryl drove the boys and me.

I started out on the Seadoo and ended up coming back on the Seadoo. But it was still a lot of fun!

We cleaned up in the late afternoon and got ready to head to dinner. It took two pontoon boats to take all 20 of us down the lake into South Carolina to a great place called T-Bones. We rode for about 40 minutes and passed a place called "The Sandbar" on the way. It's so shallow in this place that people get out and wade around and play games. We came back here on Monday to play as well. When we arrived at the restaurant we discovered that even boats have a traffic jam now and then. We had to wait in line to dock in a slip for dinner - then it took 40 minutes for a table. The kids fed the geese while we waited.

Even the boat ride home had something special - fireworks!
