Christmas Concert

Today Parker had his Singing Yellow Jackets Christmas Concert at school.
It was a 50s and 60s retrospective on Christmas music.

Here's our little 50s rocker at home getting ready!

They packed out the cafeteria twice with the kids from the school as well as parents.
They opened with a video showing flashbacks of ads and Christmas pictures from people's homes
in the 1950s and 60s.

Then one of the teachers played Grandma,
telling her grandkids all about the Christmas songs she loved as a kid.

Parker is in the front row, second from the right.
His friend Lindsi is in the top row, third from the right.

The kids sang lots of songs including: Frosty, Rudolph, Jingle Bells, Here Comes Santa Claus, I'm Getting Nuttin' For Christmas, All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth, and I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas, Christmas Don't Be Late and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

In the Alvin and the Chipmunk's song, Please Christmas Don't Be Late, the boys got to fly airplanes and the girls got to hula-hoop.

We are so thankful for Parker's awesome teachers at school.
The music program was cut this year at South Ocala, so instead of a full-time music teacher,
they have a part-time substitute they have to share with another school.
But several teachers felt strongly that the Singing Yellow Jackets should not just go away,
so four different teachers (including Parker's gifted teacher Ms. Yocum) worked together on their own time after school to coordinate the choir and put together the show.

Here's Parker and Lindsi after the show was over.
Those outfits are awesome!
