VBS - Day One

We already had lots of fun at VBS today, surfin' through the Scriptures. Our theme today was "Be Obedient" and our Bible story was about Gideon. The whole family was involved: Mommy is leading the opening and closing assemblies this week; Daddy is doing the daily Bible story dramas; Parker is in the Pre-K class and Wesley seems to wander around from leader to leader like some kind of mascot.

Today's color of the day was orange and we managed to scrounge up some orange for all to wear to church. But the best part was Daddy putting together his costume. Only he could manage to dress as Gideon from Bible times and pull off the Gator orange and blue combination!

Here's the stage setup in Covert Hall for our beach party opening and closing.

Parker's class has 17 kids ranging in age from 4-6. And he's having a blast because he has so many friends in his class from church and from karate. Here they are at arts and crafts today, making sandcastle tissue box holders.

Here's Parker in front of his sandcastle creation.

And here's the big guy with Miss Shirley, gluing the sand to his craft project.

Wesley had to get up earlier than his usual time in order to come to VBS. He got so sleepy that by the time VBS was over, he was completely conked out in the church office.

And Parker's fun continued after VBS today. He got invited home with Aydenn to have lunch and to play together this afternoon. The boys had a really good time together. Parker was so worn out from his fun that he ended up falling asleep on the couch for a nap before karate!
