Today was the greatly anticipated arrival of the pumpkins at Druid Hills UMC. Parker wore his orange "Pumpkin Patrol" shirt from Faith to school today so he would be all ready to help this afternoon! The pumpkins were supposed to be here last Saturday, but were delayed. With the time getting moved around the church wasn't able to get as many of the Forest High ROTC students come out to help. Still between the kids who did show up and the church members who pitched in, the pumpkins were unloaded in about 2 hours - that included several boxes and pallets of mini pumpkins and gourds, as well as 2,237 bulk pumpkins!
Our little guys taking off - so excited to round the corner at church and see the pumpkin truck there!
Some of the smaller pumpkins set up. The blank brown board there is used for Coloring Sheet contest.
Wesley and Parker were helping their friend Jamie put out the small pumpkins. They also ran some of the split or spoiling pumpkins to the dumpster. They also had fun playing on the playground, chasing each other around and helping out with the water break by pulling the yellow carts.
The Patch - ready to go for 2010. They have another truck coming a week from tomorrow with more!
There was just enough time after unloading to partake of the free pizza dinner in the Fellowship Hall before heading over to the Education Building for Parker's Cub Scout meeting.
