Sunday night Daddy was out of town at a retreat and Mommy had the boys. She wanted to get in a run, but the childcare at the YMCA isn't open past 2pm on Sundays. So she and the munchkins rode their bikes to the nearby Brick City Adventure Park. The main part of the park has a playground, a picnic area, and a track with an infield used for soccer and football. Other areas of the park have a ropes course and trails leading back to an old quarry where you can go exploring the system of caves underground (haven't tried this part yet). We spent a fair amount of time at the Brick City Park - Parker's school holds their Frosty Festival here every year, we've brought the boys to the playground several times, Mommy took some exercise boot camp classes here and a couple of the boys' babysitters have brought them to play and ride bikes. It's a great place to hang out. No camera the other night - so here's a video we found on youtube with some still images of the park.
The weather had turned a bit cool on Sunday evening and there were a ton of people at the park!! Parents and kids were everywhere at the playground, there was a huge community soccer game on the infield, moms walking and exercising around the track, kids riding bikes and scooters on the track too. We joined in the crowd with the boys riding their bikes on the track and Mommy running. Mommy got in 12 laps or 3 miles - we know Parker did at least 16 laps on his bike and 1 lap running for a total of 4.25 miles! Not to mention the bike ride there and back for everyone. The whole outing was a lot of fun. We can't wait to take Daddy back as a whole family sometime soon to repeat the experience.
