Before and After

This was Daryl's ear the day after his surgery.......

And this was Daryl's ear tonight, exactly four weeks out from surgery. 

We went last week back to Shands. The surgeon was very pleased with how well Daryl's ear was healing. He spent about 20 minutes digging around gently in Daryl's ear with special tools to get the rest of the packing out. He answered all of our questions very patiently and we realized that everything Daryl is experiencing is part of the normal healing process (ringing in his ears, feeling like his ear is numb, etc). The ONLY thing he was concerned about was that Daryl's ear might be healing too fast.....and that could cause scar tissue build up later on. But for now, we are in good shape. Daryl has two more post-op appointments and at the twelve week visit they will redo his hearing test. Thank you for your continued prayers.
