A Full Day of Halloween Celebrations

Saturday morning started off bright and early as we ran the first inaugural Trick-Or-Trot Costume 5k to benefit technology at Fruitland Park Elementary School. Our church was the prime sponsor for the race and so we were able to highlight some of our children's and youth ministries on the front of the race t-shirts.

Church members Chris and Sonia Semans also helped sponsor the event with their State Farm office.

There's a new PDQ going in about a mile away from the church and we get to bless it for its grand opening in two weeks.

Our Community sponsor booth with our Children's Minister Faye and some great volunteers

Lots of awesome costumes all around.

Here's some of our church members who came out to support the school. Our visitation pastor Ralph and his wife Judy; Rev. Melissa Cooper from the LEC and her husband Will; Mona and Kim from our Worship Band; the Pancoast family from Warren Willis Camp; our youth minister/contemporary worship leader Brandon and his family; as well as Vivica and Sasha.

And we're off!!!!!

The race wandered from the school through downtown Fruitland Park, around Mirror Lake and back to the school. Here's Daryl and Davis crossing the finish line and then Mama bringing up the end for our family later on.

Davis "worked" so hard sitting and eating snacks while Baba was pushing him in the stroller!

The principal Mrs. Langley and some of the teachers from the school who ran the race.

Students from the school who ran in the race as well!

Parker had a personal best of just under 30 minutes and won second place in his age group.

Daryl came in third place for his age group; stroller pushing and all!

Lining up for the costume contest

Here's our superhero group - 3 Batmans and 2 Robins!

Even my socks had capes!

Mrs. Quinn sings in the Worship Band at church and teaches 4th grade at the school. She and her husband Asa (who works at camp) organized this whole event.

Someone finally decided to get some exercise...

After lunch, this was the post 5k crash in the backseat of our car!

We got to go home and recharge a bit before going back to the church for Trunk N Treat! We dressed up and decorated with all things Dr. Who again this year. The church had their largest Trunk N Treat ever in terms of community participation. We handed out an awful lot of candy and had a lot of fun!

One of the most popular trunks of the night was this one. Always seemed to have a crowd of folks - the Gator game wasn't over when we got started and this one had the game on a big TV.

We were so thankful for a wonderful day of fun AND the gift of an extra hour to sleep before getting up for all our usual Sunday morning stuff!
