For years we have driven past the entrance to this park without any idea of what was back here. Carney Island is a peninsula that goes between Little Lake Weir and Lake Weir in Ocklawaha. We hiked the whole outside perimeter and visited both beach recreation areas (on each lake) for a total of 4.3 miles. It was beautiful! We saw turtles, deer, wild turkeys and a whole bunch of butterflies!
