Spring Break - Out West - Day Five

Tuesday morning we got up and we visited the Chapel of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. We had heard a lot about this church - built into the hillside and designed by Frank Lloyd Wright's son, Frank Wright. It's such a tourist attraction that we had to park more than half a mile down the road from it and hike up to it. But oh was it worth it. Amazing views and a beautiful church.

This painting of Our Mother of Mercy was done just for this church by a local artist. We bought prints of this picture to hang in our church offices.

Afterwards we went for a hike in the canyon. The website we read about the trails we went on said it would be 3.5 miles. It ended up being more than 5! Gorgeous views and amazing scenery that we all enjoyed despite the extra miles. This hike went through the Munds Mountain Wilderness Area along Broken Arrow Trail past Battlement Mesa, Twin Buttes, Chicken Point, Submarine Rock and the Devil's Dining Room Sinkhole.

When we were done hiking, we ended up back in town for dinner at Don Diego's Mexican Restaurant. Delicious food and a HUGE margarita!
