Life Around Town

On Sunday I spent time at four churches in the northeast corner of the district. First, Sun Ray UMC in Frostproof and then First UMC Avon Park for worship. Both of these churches have lost their steeples in hurricanes in the last few years. After the second service we had lunch in Avon Park's fellowship hall and did their charge conferences.

Then I went out to Spring Lake UMC in Sebring. Their steeple came down in a thunderstorm in May but their new roof goes on next week! This small congregation does a ton of outreach, mission and ministry in their community.

Then the last stop of the day was Nuevo Pacto UMC mission in Sebring. They had 8 lay servants to approve and 1 candidate for ministry! So exciting! Pastor Luz is doing a great job there. And the Bishop and I even made the wall of honor for Pastor Appreciation Month.

Monday through Wednesday I was in Lakeland for Cabinet meetings. I was able to get out a couple of days at lunch for a quick walk around Lake Wire (out front).

And today I was back in Sarasota at the office. I got to spend some time on Zoom with lay leaders from Pine Island UMC talking about ideas for their congregational care ministry. A good and full week!
