Confirmation Retreat

Last weekend I had the privilege of speaking at one of the Confirmation Retreats at Camp for about 175 middle school and high schoolers. Warren Willis Camp in Leesburg is one of my sacred places and it was an awesome experience to be there as a speaker for the first time.

In our first service the kids came up to remember their baptisms by taking stones from the bowl.

In the second service, they wrote down sins they wanted to repent from on these post it notes along the altar rail.

In between chapels, I hung out with the different youth groups in their small group lesson times and out on the ropes course. This is the group from Memorial UMC in Fernandina Beach.

Youth from Sanlando UMC in Longwood for TAG (Time alone with God) out on the dock. And they were making covers for their new Bibles back in their craft hut.

Youth from Palm Harbor UMC in one of their small group times.

Our third chapel the students broke into groups and wrote down ideas for ways that they could be in service to others in their family, church, communities and schools. Our final Sunday morning chapel we celebrated communion together.

There were several pastors there that I knew well and it was great to reconnect with them. But more than that it was exciting to see so many youth from across the conference and to hear their questions and thoughts about confirmation in the church.
