Last weekend we participated in a new 5K in Leesburg to benefit the House of Hope, which deals with addiction issues. We found out about it from Pastor Ralph, who is our visitation pastor at the church. He was planning to run and his wife Judy was planning to do the 2 mile walk. So we signed up. They had a great turnout for their inaugural event.
These three did the 5K run while I pushed Davis in the stroller for the 2 mile walk.
It started gently raining during the race. Parker finished first out of our family (and 25th overall of the runners), followed by Davis and I wrapping up our walk. He took a nap towards the end!
Watching Wesley and Daryl approach the finish line.
Here we are with Pastor Ralph. He finished first in his age group (over 70) and came in 23rd overall. Parker also finished first in his age group (under 14) and came in 25th overall with a time of 31:07. Wesley came in second in his age group and came in 42nd overall with a time of 36:01. Daryl came in second in his age group (ages 40-44) and 43rd overall with a time of 36:01.2. Daryl, Parker and Wesley all got medals, but there were no medals for the walkers. Davis and I did a little bit of running during our walk and I ended up first in my age category (ages 35-39) and 14th overall for the walkers with a time of 32.19.
