Winterfest

Saturday was the biggest outreach event of the year at Community UMC - Winterfest! We've heard lots of stories about this event and were so excited to be able to see and experience it for ourselves. Everything at Winterfest is absolutely FREE - parking, food, games, rides, entertainment, and prizes. It's a wonderful gift to the community!

Getting everything set up and ready to go early in the morning; that included packing down the ice slide and of course, testing it out!

There were approximately 400 volunteers from the church: some working all day and others in shifts to pull the event off. That included food and ride volunteers, golf cart drivers, parking lot attendants, folks gathering trash and so much more.

The food included shave ice, fried dough, kettle corn,
cotton candy, hot dogs, a chili cook-off, drinks, and a bunch of desserts at the cake walk.

Parker worked for a few hours with the Boy Scouts as a helper on the ice slide

The kids had fun running all around especially Davis. He enjoyed the little petting zoo and the bounce houses and it turns out he really loved the ice slide.

Even the grownups enjoyed the ice slide.

We enjoyed about two hours of great event weather before the rain set in. We moved the entertainment inside then but plenty of people stayed and more showed up for the food and games.

But eventually all the fun caught up to someone!

Despite the cold and wet day, we had a really fun time experiencing our first Winterfest! It was so neat to see so many people from the community come out to enjoy the day and to see all the church volunteers work together to pull it off!
