Lil' Dragons

Right after Parker's birthday, we were all walking through Countryside Mall in Clearwater when they had a community fair inside. We were approached by a karate school about enrolling Parker. We kind of laughed it off as a joke - he's only three years old and anyone who's met him more than once knows he can't stand still for anything. But the karate school insisted that three year olds could really learn and benefit from classes even at their age. We were kind of intrigued by the idea, but really thinking about enrolling Parker a couple of years down the road.

Fast forward to now. One of the newest families at our church is the Angwins - Rich, Sheri, Trey and Ashton. They own and operate Ingrams' Karate School in New Port Richey, which was started by Sheri's parents. Sheri is a 5th degree black belt and a two-time AAU National Karate Champion. She recently approached the church trustees about opening a satellite campus of her school in the church's Fellowship Hall a couple of nights a week. Turns out they offer a Lil' Dragons class for 3-5 year olds. They work on instilling the ideas of respect and discipline in the kids with a fun environment. We're going to be "kicking" things off at the church in September with Sensei Tony Previte and Parker will be the first child enrolled in the new Dragons class. We want him to have a special activity that is all his when the new baby arrives. Plus, it wouldn't hurt if he could learn to stand still once in a while.
